Matt Eriksson – Senior Experience Architect
How would you describe your career path to arriving at ELSE?
I spent several years developing initiatives and content for both digital and broadcast platforms at The Walt Disney Company. Seeing the benefits of having access to lots of data, research and a passionate audience was the beginning of my career as a User Experience Designer. Understanding how we could optimise projects and processes by understanding our users was a revelation. After leaving Disney I had the opportunity to build on my UX skills through projects in eCommerce, financial services, NGOs and education. The work took me from the UK and the Nordics to France and Russia.
Can you share with us any of your failures? And what you learned from them?
Clear outcomes are instrumental to any project and team. This was something that became apparent early on, when I was running my own company, where objectives at times were not as clear as they could have been. I now know that asking the right questions and managing expectations are a crucial part of the job.
What does success look like to you?
There are many measures of success. I personally enjoy seeing my work having an impact in the real world. It can be incredibly rewarding to see improvements in the user’s experience or a huge increase in a client’s conversions. I also consider building strong, long-lasting and collaborative relationships with clients a success as well.
Why did you want to work at ELSE?
ELSE have worked on some incredible projects in the innovation and transformation space and go above and beyond on every project. To be part of a team that aims to achieve excellence in everything they do was hugely appealing to me. At ELSE every project becomes an opportunity to push myself and grow. The company’s culture also resonated strongly with me.
What have you discovered about ELSE and about yourself while being here?
ELSE encourages me to push myself every day and to always learn. This part of the company’s culture has resulted in me exploring new areas and developing skills in areas I had previously not considered.
What goals do you have for the next few weeks? Months? Years?
I believe data is key to building good experiences and making informed decisions. I am currently expanding my knowledge in the area by taking a Nanodegree in Digital Analytics. There’s a lot to learn in this space and I am keen to continue doing so over the next several months.
Do you have a passion or interest you want to tell us about?
Outside of work I enjoy producing music and have produced work for several artists. It’s a way to relax while tapping into my creative side through composing and mixing audio.
What do you offer clients that’s a bit different?
I believe that my positivity and can-do attitude resonate well with clients. With a background in storytelling and branding I also believe I sometimes bring a different perspective to the work.
What’s your personal brand?
Friendly, enthusiastic and committed
How would you like to be remembered?
As a positive team-player who actually made a difference with my work.
